Eagerly Anticipate His Coming

Advent has been a season of waiting. it is a season of eager anticipation of the coming of Jesus, Immanuel, God with us! His coming was the coming of a savior who would save his people from their sins. He came. We celebrate Christmas. The light shone into the dark world. And yet, the world remains so very dark. Has the savior failed to save. Disease and pride are still rampant. Pornography and poverty still destroy families. Sin and brokenness. Is this salvation?

The climax of our Christmas advent each year is not Christmas, but the call to continue with eager anticipation of the return of Jesus. Php 1:6 And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

When we think of the light shining into the dark world do not picture a spotlight shining on you standing on a dark stage. Think of the sunrise. He has not come to merely shine in the darkness but to end all darkness. But just as the sun rises it does not come all at once. Pro 4:18 But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until full day.

Light falls upon our spiritual eyes and restores our sight. we are in the middle of the miracle. In a sense, we have received the Lord’s first touch and we await the second. Mar 8:22-25 And they came to Bethsaida. And some people brought to him a blind man and begged him to touch him. (23) And he took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village, and when he had spit on his eyes and laid his hands on him, he asked him, “Do you see anything?” (24) And he looked up and said, “I see people, but they look like trees, walking.” (25) Then Jesus laid his hands on his eyes again; and he opened his eyes, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly.

So do not lose heart. Wait patiently. Hear his promise.
John 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.
Act 1:9-11 And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight. (10) And while they were gazing into heaven as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white robes, (11) and said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.”

He is Alpha and Omega. The beginning and the end. He began this work and he will be faithful to complete it!
